Trash, Recycling and Bulk Items
Trash and recycling at Pacific Crest and Pacific Heights are picked up every Thursday. Refuse containers may be placed at curbside no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before pick-up and should be at curbside no later than 7 a.m. the morning of pick up. The containers must be returned to proper storage areas no later than 6 p.m. the day of pick up.
Trash and recycling at Fort MacArthur are picked up three times a week. There are 33 trash enclosures located throughout military family housing at Fort MacArthur. The white 3 yard containers are for household refuse and the blue 3 yard containers are for recycling. When using the 3 yard containers, make sure the lids close completely to prevent wild animals from entering. Also, make sure to close and latch the trash enclosure gates after use to prevent small children and animals from entering.
Bulk trash is the last Thursday of every month. Only put bulk trash out the night before, but no earlier than 6:00 p.m. When bulk trash pick-up falls on a holiday, these items will be picked-up on the next business day. If you need your appliances picked-up, remove all lids and/or doors from these items before placing them curbside. If the lids and/or doors are not removed, the item will not be picked-up. This is a federal safety law and is strictly enforced.
Residents who need to dispose of bulk trash prior to the last Thursday of the month, can visit the Maintenance Office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to utilize the 40 yard roll off dumpster at Fort MacArthur.
If you need to dispose of household hazardous waste such as cleaning chemicals, automotive fluids and batteries, paint and so forth, bring to 1400 N. Gaffey Street, San Pedro, CA 90731 on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
If you need to dispose of electronic waste such as satellite dishes, televisions, computers, printers and so forth, contact the Community Management Office at (310) 241-6184 to schedule an appointment to drop off your electronic waste at the Maintenance Department so it can be properly disposed off.
