Schools

With the arrival of Tierra Vista's housing at Schriever, children residing on Schriever attend Ellicott School District 22. Ellicott School District is located approximately 20 miles east of Colorado Springs. The District covers over 229 square miles. The District pupil enrollment is approximately 940 students. Currently, there is one Elementary, Middle, and High School. There is a 14:1 student/teacher ratio, full-day kindergarten, and free preschool for 3-4 year olds. To accommodate Ellicott School’s four-day school week, the Schriever Child Development Center has a School-Age Program available...more information here.

School Choice:  Colorado State Law allows you to choose any public (neighborhood or charter) school for your child, even if it is not in your neighborhood or school district. Your child can then attend that school for free, unless it is full. In many cases, you must submit an enrollment application to schools in order to be included in their lottery. Rules and deadlines are different from district to district. One important thing to note is that while districts usually provide transportation to the schools closest to where you live. If you choose a different school or a charter school, you will likely need to provide your own transportation. Call the Tierra Vista Community Management Office at 719-683-3660 for school carpooling information.

You can also visit the Colorado Department of Education site for primary and secondary school information.
